Coursework programmes

Our coursework masters degrees will give you an applied learning experience within a diverse cohort. You will engage in case-based workshops and experiential learning, and have many opportunities to develop your skills in analysis, decision making, cross-cultural communication and leadership.

Our programmes are designed for students with a degree in business or a relevant non-business discipline; perfect if you want to launch a business career, or steer your existing career in a new direction.

Classes will incorporate team-based learning, in which you will work in groups to replicate the dynamics of the workplace. Real-life case studies will provide you with practical insights into the professional world.

Our students will have the opportunity to interact with the New Zealand business community through industry visits and speaker events, networking evenings and industry projects.

Award-winning facilities

Business classes are held in the modern, purpose-built Sir Owen G Glenn Building. Built in 2008, it contains lecture theatres, case rooms, computer labs, study rooms, all equipped with the latest technology, and a café. Business Masters students have access to a postgraduate lounge and dedicated labs.


Professional development

Our unique professional development module is designed to complement your academic learning and enable you to gain the skills, abilities and attitudes that are essential for advancing your career in business.

Our professional development module will provide you with opportunities to develop a portfolio of professional, transferable skills such as negotiation, managing change and conflict, recognising ethical dilemmas and project management. Working in groups, you will apply these skills in real-world scenarios.

Career development is embedded into the curriculum. You will define your career goals and identify the pathway you should take to achieve them. Career counsellors are available to support you, delivering a range of workshops as well as individual appointments to ensure you are equipped with the effective strategies and tools needed to transition to a business career.

Dedicated Career Development and Employer Liaison Manager
We have a dedicated Career Development and Employer Liaison manager, Anastasia Timoshkina  anastasia.timoshkina@auckland.ac.nz, who can assist you with your career planning, development and management, as well as job-search skills to help you maximise your employment opportunities. She can also recommend relevant workshops and events as well as   arrange one-on-one appointments to give advice on building your CV, cover letter and LinkedIn profile.

Careers expos
A chance to speak with employers and find out about the range of career paths available. Find out more information about our upcoming 2023 CDES Business and Law Expo.

We also provide opportunities to network with employers at events on campus, which will increase your knowledge of the local business environment.

Speed networking events
An opportunity to network with representatives from a range of leading firms and find out more about their organisations. A special speed networking event is organised specifically for MIntBus and MMktg students to find a company to do their internship project with.

Employer recruitment presentations
A range of potential employers come on campus to present to students about employment opportunities with their companies. Recent company presentations have included McKinsey & Company, Deloitte, Disney, EY, PwC, Fonterra and The Boston Consulting Group.

Industry guest speakers
Throughout the Business Masters programmes we invite senior industry people from SMEs through to large corporates in to lectures to speak to students. These guest speakers provide a wealth of industry knowledge and provide a great opportunity for students to gain valuable insights into the business world.
